COLUMBUS — Two of the most coveted names in modern music, Travis Scott and Diplo, will headline Breakaway Music Festival in Columbus on September 1-2, 2017, at MAPFRE Stadium. The third year event has emerged as the standout festival in the Midwest for attendees looking to breakaway from the norm.
“We are proud to be building the Breakaway brand into a major, multi-day festival while bringing in an array of talent from headlining artists like Travis Scott and Diplo, to cool, emerging acts like Blackbear and Playboi Carti,” said Adam Lynn, managing partner of festival production and promotions company Prime Social Group. “After seeing the success that artists like Lil Uzi Vert and Cheat Codes had after performing at last year’s festival, we feel that Breakaway is the festival that highlights the next round of artists set to pop.”
Travis Scott, whose recent stint landed him in the Guinness Book of World Records and, according to Rolling Stone, had one the best rap albums of 2016, will co-headline the festival alongside EDM power-producer Diplo. Diplo makes up one-third of the supergroup Major Lazer, whose single “Lean On” with DJ Snake recently surpassed two billion plays on YouTube, and one-half of Grammy Award-Winning Jack Ü alongside industry legend Skrillex.
Additional artists are as follows (in alphabetical order): 3LAU, Blackbear, Cashmere Cat, Crankdat, CVBZ, G4SHI, Getter, Goldlink, K?D, Kaiydo, Le Youth, Lil Yachty, Malaa, Mija, Oliver Heldens, Playboi Carti, Quinn XCII, Shaun Frank, SuperDuperKyle, THEY., Two Friends, and Ugly God.
“We will be utilizing all areas of the footprint outside of the playing field to build a fan-first experience with a one-of-a-kind layout,” said Zach Ruben, co-owner of Prime Social Group. “Given the exciting talent on the lineup and our team's dedication to the festival experience, we will make Breakaway Columbus' premier music festival.”
